Pandora's Box: The jar that accompanied Pandora to Earth and, upon opening, erupted with horrors that brought disaster on man. By extension, a "Pandora's Box" can refer to any pivotal moment that has tempted someone to unleash a series of negative or horrific events.

Pantheon: A term that encompasses all the Greek gods.

Ra: The Egyptian god of the sun.

Saturn: The father of Zeus and the equivalent of the Greek god Cronus.

Satyrs: Leering half-human, half-animal Roman deities depicted as males and also known as "fauns." Satyrs were great worshippers of the god Dionysus, or Bacchus.

Seth: The Egyptian god of evil who once was revered for powers over storms and winds.

sirens: Nymphs known for their captivating songs used to lure those at sea to their deaths.

Sol: Norse goddess of the sun who travels across the sky by chariot.

sphinx: Originating in Greek tales, this creature would ask a riddle, then punish those who could not answer. The sphinx eventually became an Egyptian symbol of mystery and puzzles.

Styx: The river that rings the Underworld and that souls must cross to reach Hades.
